10 Idle Games on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox (Every Port Checked)

Idle games on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox: 10 incremental games with real console versions, release dates and prices checked, plus which ones left Switch.

The best idle games on Switch right now are Cookie Clicker ($4.99, also on PlayStation and Xbox since May 2025), Clicker Heroes (free, on Switch since October 2025), A Dark Room ($6.99) and Cast n Chill ($14.99, on Switch and Switch 2). On Xbox, the free ports of Idle Wizard and Incremental Epic Hero 2 are the deepest picks. All ten games below have a console version you can buy or download today.

Console idle games are a short list, and many lists online include phone games that never shipped on a console. For every entry we checked the release dates and current prices on Deku Deals, which tracks the Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox stores, in November 2026. Steam review percentages come from the IncrementalGames.org catalog and describe the PC version, which the console ports are based on.

02

Clicker Heroes: best for a free clicker RPG on Switch

Platform: Steam, Browser, Mobile · free-to-play

Clicker Heroes has you click monsters for gold, then hire 35 heroes, from Athena to King Midas, who deal damage without you clicking. Gold buys hero upgrades and special powers, and resets let you grow faster each time.

Playsaurus released it on PS4 and Xbox One in March 2017 and on Switch on October 2, 2025. It is free on Switch. The PC version is 90% positive from about 62,000 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if you want a free download to see whether idle games work for you on a console.

Watch out for: It is free to play, and Steam lists in-app purchases for the PC version, so check the console store page before you start.

03

A Dark Room: best for a short, story-led text game on Switch

Platform: Browser, Mobile · free

A Dark Room starts with a cold room and a fire, and turns into a village, a wider world and a story the store page compares to Zork. It is text-based and visually clean, and the store page notes that audio is a big part of the atmosphere.

It came to Switch on April 12, 2019 from publisher CIRCLE Ent, and to PS5 on August 21, 2026, at $6.99. The catalog records an ending and a length of about 3 to 6 hours.

Pick it if you want a finished experience rather than an endless climb. It is the best-known story incremental on any console.

Watch out for: Do not look anything up first, because the reveals are the game. The catalog records no offline progress.

04

Cast n Chill: best for a pixel fishing idler on Switch 2

Platform: Steam · paid

Cast n Chill is a laid-back pixel fishing game with a dog companion. You catch fish, sell the haul for better rods and reels, and explore 16 fishing spots with 50 fish to discover. Active Mode has you casting and reeling; Passive Mode lets the game fish for you.

It launched on Switch and Switch 2 on December 18, 2025 for $14.99, six months after the PC release. The PC version is 95% positive from about 5,190 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if you want something to leave running on the TV or in handheld mode. Our idle fishing games guide has more like it.

Watch out for: It is the most expensive game here, and it is light on numbers. Players who want big prestige layers should look elsewhere.

05

Outpath: best for a 3D clicker base builder on every console

Platform: Steam · paid

Outpath is a first-person clicker base builder that takes Satisfactory, Forager and idle games as references. You gather by hand, craft, automate your base, buy more islands, fish and level skills, playing actively or idle, with music that reacts to what you do.

It came to PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 19, 2026, with an MSRP of $14.99 (Deku Deals showed it on sale for $4.49 on Switch in November 2026). The PC version is 94% positive from about 2,570 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if flat menu games do not hold you. On PC, the free prologue Outpath: First Journey lets you try the first two biomes before buying.

Watch out for: It is the most active game here, with platforming. It is idle in the automation sense, not a game you can ignore for hours.

06

Placid Plastic Duck Simulator: best for pure background calm on the TV

Platform: Steam · paid

Placid Plastic Duck Simulator has you float in a seaside pool as a rubber duck while more ducks drop in one by one, each with their own style. There is a day and night cycle, a radio and a second pool down the slide. The store page calls it an experiment to induce calm and bliss.

Team17 published it on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on June 27, 2023, at $8.99. The PC version is 98% positive from about 17,700 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it as something to have on screen while you do other things. It is the most idle game here, because there is almost nothing to do.

Watch out for: There are no upgrades or numbers. It is in our catalog for the waiting-and-watching loop, not for incremental depth.

07

My Name is Mayo: best for a 99 cent achievement clicker

Platform: Steam · paid

My Name is Mayo is a joke clicker: you tap a mayonnaise jar, unveil its story and unlock 50 achievements. The store page opens by telling you it is not a next-generation open world game, which sets the tone.

It costs $0.99 and has been on PS4 since November 2016 and Switch since April 4, 2023. Sequels My Name is Mayo 2 ($0.99) and My Name is Mayo 3 ($1.99) are also on PS4 and Switch. The PC version of the first game is 84% positive from about 1,580 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if you collect trophies or want a few minutes of silliness. It is a clicker, not an idle game: nothing happens unless you tap.

Watch out for: There is no automation at all. If you want something that plays itself, choose Cookie Clicker instead.

08

Idle Wizard: best for class-based prestige builds on Xbox

Platform: Steam, Mobile · free-to-play

Idle Wizard is an idle RPG hybrid about becoming the most powerful wizard. You start as an Apprentice and choose from 12 base classes plus 6 hybrid classes later on, each with different income mechanics, spells and items, and pets add another layer. Transcending resets the run for permanent power.

It came to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on June 13, 2025 through publisher Desert Water Games, and it is free there, as on Steam. The PC version is 86% positive from about 1,840 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if you have an Xbox and want build variety. The store page stresses that classes do not follow a simple "take the newest one" logic.

Watch out for: Steam lists in-app purchases for the PC version, so expect a shop. It is not on Switch or PlayStation.

09

Incremental Epic Hero 2: best for an enormous free idle RPG on Xbox

Platform: Steam, Browser · free

Incremental Epic Hero 2 is an idle RPG from Japanese developer Hapiwaku. Six heroes adventure through a fantasy world while you upgrade almost everything and juggle several prestige systems. The store page claims over 1,000 hours of content and says you do not need to have played the first game.

After two and a half years of Early Access on PC, it came to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on July 15, 2026, free, also through Desert Water Games. The PC version is 72% positive from about 1,710 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if you want the longest game on this list and you like menus full of numbers.

Watch out for: Reviews are mixed compared with others here, and expect dense menus with many systems to read on a TV screen.

10

AdVenture Capitalist: best for a free tycoon idler on PS4

Platform: Steam, Mobile · free-to-play

AdVenture Capitalist starts you with a lemonade stand and builds to total fiscal domination. You buy businesses, hire managers so they run without you, and attract Angel Investors that boost everything when you reset. Money keeps piling up while you are offline.

The PS4 version has been out since August 16, 2016 and is free. The PC version is 88% positive from about 60,400 Steam reviews as of November 2026.

Pick it if you have a PlayStation and want the classic tycoon idler. For more like it, see our games like AdVenture Capitalist guide.

Watch out for: Deku Deals lists it for PS4 only, not Switch or Xbox. That port dates from 2016, so it may lag behind the PC version.

How to choose an idle game for your console

Start with the machine you own, because the lists barely overlap.

01

Match it to your console

Switch: Cookie Clicker, Clicker Heroes, A Dark Room, Cast n Chill (also Switch 2), Outpath, Placid Plastic Duck Simulator and My Name is Mayo. PlayStation: Cookie Clicker, Clicker Heroes on PS4, A Dark Room on PS5, Outpath on PS5, Placid Plastic Duck Simulator, My Name is Mayo and AdVenture Capitalist. Xbox: Cookie Clicker, Clicker Heroes, Outpath, Placid Plastic Duck Simulator, Idle Wizard and Incremental Epic Hero 2.

02

Match it to how much you want to play

Leave it running: Placid Plastic Duck Simulator, Cast n Chill in Passive Mode, Cookie Clicker and AdVenture Capitalist. Play actively: Outpath, My Name is Mayo and A Dark Room. Long term number climbing: Idle Wizard and Incremental Epic Hero 2.

03

Decide whether a console is the right screen

Idle games tend to be cheaper and more complete on PC, browser and phone, and most of these ports arrived years after the PC versions. If you also have a PC or a Steam Deck, our Steam Deck idle games guide and the browser incremental games list open up many more options.

If you have a Switch, start with Clicker Heroes because it costs nothing, then buy Cookie Clicker or A Dark Room depending on whether you want an endless game or a finished one. On Xbox, Idle Wizard is the free place to start.

If none of these fit, the finder matches you to a game by platform, length and how idle you want it.
