For writers, creators & researchers

The facts, with their sources.

Use a chart, investigate a finding, or introduce the project. The data, methodology, and ownership context travel together.

The project in a paragraph

IncrementalGames.org is a discovery directory for idle and incremental games across browser, desktop, and mobile. It combines catalog filters, external store signals, source-checked guides, and public data. Maxwell Prehoda maintains the site and also develops Mushies!, whose featured placement is disclosed.

Current research

The October 2026 study examines 29,392 catalog records. Of 192 records with an explicit ending value, 117 identify a conclusion. Only 17 records include a completion-time estimate. These are findings about the selected catalog—not claims about all incremental games.

Useful story angles

  • Why “does it end?” and “how long does it take?” are different discovery questions.
  • The difference between a large game index and a small body of verified information.
  • Why offline progression needs edition, cap, and save context.

Attribution and questions

Credit the chart to IncrementalGames.org and link to the dated report. Preserve its sample-size caveat when using a percentage. Published charts may be reused with credit; game artwork is not included in that permission.

For a source question or correction, use the contact form and include the report or game URL plus a reply address. Requests are reviewed by the site maintainer.

Project description
IncrementalGames.org helps players choose idle and incremental games using filters for endings, estimated length, active versus idle play, and recorded offline progression. Its source-checked guides and public catalog distinguish editorial estimates from developer statements and external store ratings.
