13 Idle Games Like RuneScape (Skilling, Banks and Collection Logs Without the Clicking)

Idle games like RuneScape: 13 skilling idlers, solo and MMO, with skill counts, multiplayer features, price models and an honest caveat for each.

The best idle game like RuneScape is still Melvor Idle: it is openly inspired by RuneScape, its publisher is RuneScape's own studio Jagex, and its sequel, Melvor Idle 2: A RuneScape Adventure, enters Steam Early Access on 17 November 2026. If you want other players around, Idle Clans, Milky Way Idle, Scapewatch and Legends of IdleOn bring clans, markets and raids. If you want a quieter solo skiller, Bloobs Adventure Idle, Rocky Idle and Eldara are the newer names to know.

Every pick here has the RuneScape loop at its core: choose a skill, repeat an action, feed the output into another skill, fill a bank. We chose them from our hand-tagged catalog using its skilling and MMO tags, then read each Steam or official page for skill counts, multiplayer features and how it makes money. Review shares come from the catalog's Steam counts as of November 2026.

01

Melvor Idle: best for RuneScape veterans who want the real thing, idle

Platform: Browser, Steam, Mobile · paid

Melvor Idle's Steam page starts with "Inspired by RuneScape" and delivers: Woodcutting, Smithing, Cooking and Farming, combat across Melee, Ranged and Magic against 100+ monsters, a bank, more than 1,100 items and 40+ pets. Over 20 skills interact, so levelling one feeds another. Progress continues offline, and cloud saves work across Steam, mobile and the web.

It has 90% positive from 16,271 Steam reviews and was published by Jagex Partners from its 1.0 launch in 2021. It costs $9.99 on Steam, has three paid expansions, and states that it has no microtransactions. On mobile it is free to try with a one-time unlock.

Watch out for: It is single-player only, with no trading or clans. Its Steam page says it needs an internet connection. And with the sequel arriving in Early Access on 17 November 2026, new players may want to decide which one to start.

02

Idle Clans: best for players who miss clans and a player-run economy

Platform: Steam, Mobile · free

Idle Clans aims for the classic MMORPG experience at your own pace: dozens of skills, a player-driven economy, quests, bosses and raids. Clans are the centre of it, with their own upgrades, events, bosses and quests, and the store page notes that some clans coordinate very seriously.

It is free on Steam with cross-platform play, and it runs on Windows, macOS and iPhone. It has 74% positive from 1,690 Steam reviews.

Watch out for: Free to play with in-app purchases. The lower review score suggests the experience depends a lot on the clan you land in.

03

Milky Way Idle: best for queueing hours of actions and trading on a market

Platform: Browser · free

Milky Way Idle is a multiplayer idle RPG with 10 non-combat skills and 7 combat skills. You queue a sequence of actions that can run offline for 10+ hours, fight monsters and dungeons fully AFK with configurable auto-consumables, and trade on a player marketplace. Guilds, party combat and chat round it out.

It started in the browser and came to Steam in March 2025, with cross-platform play between them. It is free.

Watch out for: Free with in-app purchases. On Galaxy it has a modest 3.7-star rating, lower than most picks here, so try it before investing.

04

Scapewatch: Idle MMO: best for OSRS-style grinders who want 30 skills and capes

Platform: Steam · paid

Scapewatch is the most openly RuneScape-shaped idle MMO here: 30 skills, three combat styles (melee, ranged and magic), clans, raids, hiscores, pets and skill capes. You set up a task queue, close the tab, and your character keeps gathering, fighting and filling your bank while you are offline.

It launched on Steam in September 2026 and has 86% positive from 297 reviews, a good start for a new game. It runs on Windows and Linux.

Watch out for: It is paid ($14.99 when we checked) and has three DLC on Steam, so read what they include. It is also new, with a small community so far, and Steam lists it as unsupported on Steam Deck.

05

Legends of IdleOn: best for account builders who want many characters at once

Platform: Steam, Browser, Mobile · free-to-play

IdleOn gives you up to 11 characters, one per class, each fighting or skilling on its own while you are away. Skills include Cooking, Woodcutting, Alchemy, Construction, Farming and Sailing, and the systems keep expanding. It describes itself as the biggest incremental community in gaming, with 200,000+ members on Discord.

It is free on Steam, mobile and the web, and has 77% positive from 29,910 Steam reviews. If you liked managing alts and a full account in RuneScape, this is the closest feeling.

Watch out for: Free to play with a significant gem shop. Steam lists no macOS build, and the systems become overwhelming without a guide.

06

Idle Pixel: best for a pixel-art browser skiller with a friendly crowd

Platform: Browser · free-to-play

Idle Pixel is a browser skiller: mining, crafting, gathering, farming, brewing, woodcutting, cooking, fishing and breeding, all ticking along in the background. It has hiscores, an XP table, team raids and a live player count on its home page.

It is 85% idle in our catalog, with offline progress. It is a good choice if you want RuneScape's skill list without installing anything.

Watch out for: It has a donor shop for optional purchases. Its home page notes that logins have moved to flatmmo.com, so expect an account on that site.

07

Bloobs Adventure Idle: best for solo skillers who want prestige on top

Platform: Steam · paid

Bloobs Adventure Idle calls itself a massive RuneScape-inspired idle RPG: 24 interconnected skills including Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing, Cooking, Magic, Thieving and BeastMastery, bosses, over 500 souls to collect and thousands of challenges. Unusually, skills can be prestiged for permanent bonuses.

It also lets you bank offline time and spend it later to speed up progress. It has 88% positive from 676 Steam reviews.

Watch out for: Windows only on Steam, and it has one DLC. Prestiging skills is a twist on the RuneScape loop that some purists may not want.

08

Rocky Idle: best for collection-log hunters

Platform: Steam, Browser · paid

Rocky Idle is a single-player skiller with 18 skills levelled by clicking a tree or a rock: Mining, Woodcutting, Crafting and more, with smithing feeding stronger gear for automated combat. Farming and questing run in the background, and the centrepiece is a collection log to complete.

It has an active boost every 10 minutes for players who like to check in, and it has 82% positive from 311 Steam reviews. There is a free demo on itch.io.

Watch out for: It is a first game from a solo developer, with a smaller scope than Melvor. Windows only on Steam.

09

Eldara: best for dark fantasy fans who want a pet per skill

Platform: Steam · paid

Eldara is a dark fantasy idle game with 17 linked skills, from melee and magic to fishing, mining, fletching and cremating the bones of fallen beasts. Mastering a skill unlocks one of 17 pets, each with a permanent bonus.

It launched on Steam in September 2026 and has 81% positive from 250 reviews. The world keeps progressing while you are away.

Watch out for: It is very new and Windows only, and it has fewer reviews than any other pick here, so expect rough edges.

10

Idle Iktah: best for something RuneScape-like with a real-world setting

Platform: Steam, Mobile · free

Idle Iktah is a skilling RPG set in the Pacific Northwest, with local plants and animals, 18 skills, minigames, items affected by the phase of the moon and a real-time Oregon coast tide tracker. Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing, Smithing, Cooking and Alchemy will feel familiar.

It is free on Steam and iPhone, with offline progress, and has 76% positive from 225 Steam reviews. It is the most distinctive setting on this list.

Watch out for: Free with in-app purchases, and one DLC. Steam lists it as unsupported on Steam Deck.

11

Evitania Online - Idle RPG: best for combat-first players with an army of alts

Platform: Steam · free

Evitania Online is an online idle RPG with an open world: pick Warrior, Mage or Rogue, build a talent tree, and fight thousands of monsters in AFK mode. You can create alts and send them to level Mining and Woodcutting while your main fights.

It is free, Steam Deck Verified, and has a mobile version with cross-platform progress. It has 78% positive from 1,044 Steam reviews.

Watch out for: It is more combat and loot than skilling, with only two gathering professions. Free with in-app purchases.

12

Idle Skilling: best for five to ten minutes of skilling a day

Platform: Steam, Mobile · free-to-play

Idle Skilling, from the developer of Legends of IdleOn, has 21 skills that interact with each other, from mining and fishing to pet breeding, potion-making, lab research and construction. You start with three and unlock the rest by pushing through fighting zones. Its Steam page says it is meant for 5 to 10 minutes a day.

It keeps levelling while you are offline and runs on Steam and mobile.

Watch out for: It has 70% positive from 2,399 Steam reviews, the lowest here, and it is free with in-app purchases. Its fast early prestige loops are a different rhythm from RuneScape's slow climb.

13

RS Clicker: best for a free OSRS-themed clicker in a browser tab

Platform: Browser · free

RS Clicker is a fan-made clicker themed on Old School RuneScape, with skills, gear and monsters to click through. It is open source on GitHub and runs in a browser.

It is the only pick here that looks and feels like RuneScape itself. You can play it on our site.

Watch out for: It is a fan project, not an official game, and a clicker rather than an idler: it wants your clicks to progress.

How to choose a RuneScape-style idle game

Legends of IdleOn sits in between: social features, but your main relationship is with your own account of characters.
